Description: Close up of the Gallager action, the lever underneath opens the action and that lever is held closed by a small latch on the back end of it.
Quite easy to operate, to open the action, you just slide your hand back a bit and trip this latch with the edge of your hand, then pull the lever down.
Insert a cartrige, close the breech by swinging the lever back and up, half cock the hammer, and put a cap on the nipple.
Sustained rate of fire is pretty poor by today's standards, but in its day, it was much faster than the muzzle loaded arms.
