Description: The Italians adopted the U.S. M1 Garand after WWII, but as most NATO nations went to the 7.62x51NATO cartridge, the Italians decided to modify the Garand, re-working it to take the shorter cartridge, and called the BM-59. As you can see it was similar in many ways to the the U.S. M14.
