Description: German Lange Visier rear sight as found on the WWI Gewehr 98 Mauser (as well as some other period Mauser rifles, I believe). Wonderfully adjustable, this was a curved, tangent-type rear sight set originally for 200 to 2000 meters with 7.92x57 "J" or .318" ammo. With the change to 7.92x57 "S" or .323" ammo, the settings were no longer accurate, so the sights were reset, and sights so adjusted will be found with a distinct "S" stamped on the top.
