Maybe just worn for a photo op?

Wondering what the pistol might be? I don't know for sure; any guesses anyone? I'll post my guess in the next message, so don't look ahead (or down) if you want to guess first.

Image Info: Now this is a happy kid. Raised right, by parents who respect and enjoy guns, he is obviously enjoys shooting. He is proud to be able to wear what might even be his own pistol at his side, ready for a trip to the shooting range. He is the type of kid who will never abuse guns because he knows what they can do. A future model citizen.
