My 659 did not have to adjustable rear sight. I do like the shroud that help keep it from snagging on clothes. What you just said strikes a cord. Man, I wish I had mine today as a carry gun.
I was in that stage of live in my early twenties were I had to rob Peter to pay Paul. I was lucky if I every did get what I needed. Started off with a 22 rifle then a shotgun. Then finally I got a very fine handgun M66. Then I traded that 22 and shotgun in for a Wingmaster. Man, I was set! Nope not really! Then I started putting my hearts desires on layaway. Slowly builting it up. Then started sell them one at a time to pay bills. After I had done that I swore I'd never done that again! My wife backs me on that! Then I finally started making money and could buy whatever I wanted and when ever I wanted. That was short lived however. I will never sell any gun unless I step up in quality. Right now I pretty much got what I want. There are some guns I want; a carry GM, a Remington 700SS in 22-250 or a Model 7SS in .223 or .243. for predator rifles! The GM will come first. Probably the SA Parkerized 1911. Image below from Darryl Rogers - Image Title: Springfield Armory GM |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Oh heck, I didn't mean to imply I could buy everything I want! Heck no. but I think about my younger days when I wanted a gun, it always meant trading something for something else, and I never had much of a "collection" because it was always something leaving for something coming in. I still have to be selective, and we'll be living on retirement soon enough. But there are guns I really like enough to make a center of my collection. 1911s of course, but S&W Third Generation autos are another I really enjoy--enough that I have four of them. Completely gratuitous photo time!!! This little aluminum-framed sweetie is a lightweight compared to the all-steel 5906 beasts some of you guys own! I got this on a trade at one of Jerry's favorite haunts, Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware Ohio: Image below from Mark Freburg - Image Title: S&W 5904 |
