I have Ezell's Handguns of the World and he covers the operation of early (19th-20th Century) autos in detail, and I also have an NRA book with an article on the early attempts to build blowback pistols. I'll have to go through them again and check out the details.
The fluted chambers in German rifles are not really relevant because of what you mentioned--they are roller locked anyway. And, oh yeah--they are rifles. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: there is a gray area here the old glisintia pistol is in the area. the French have built several auto rifles that fall in this area. not quite locked and sort of a retared blowback. just long enough to break obrteration. just short of ripping the head off the case. the roller locked german rifles fall into this area but use a fluted chamber to float the case out |
