Actually, when I'm trying to shoot tight groups, I don't want the rounds to impact at my point of aim. That would have the effect of changing what I see when I'm aiming. The benchrest guys seem to prefer an aiming square with a little bullseye-type target beneath it.
I've got a couple of stamp pads that will stamp a similar image on scrap paper. I turn the targets upside down so that the square is below the bullseye. With one of those stamps the center of the bullseye is pretty close to two-inches above the center of the square. When fired upon from about 100-yards the bullet goes about two-inches high and that will usually get pretty close to a 200-yard zero. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It just struck me as odd that you almost never see it done. Getting a tight group is the hardest part and requires the greatest amount of skill but moving the group to the center of your point of aim can arguably be lots more important... |
