My best guess is that this was a product of post-1964 Winchester as a cost-cutting measure, but could even be a product of U.S. Repeating Arms Corporation after they bought Winchester and continued building firearms under the Winchester name at the New Haven factory starting in 1980. It would likely have been a low-end price Model 94, while the higher-priced models would have still gotten walnut. | ||||||
