Yes, you're right, Robert. Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton envisioned it as a lead semi-wadcutter about 200 grs at 900fps, which would have been much better than the .38 Special 158gr bullet. But Remington, who produced the ammo, couldn't see themselves clear to making that load, and even their so-called police load was more like 1100 fps or better, and with a lead bullet of those days it lead revolvers badly, and cops hated cleaning leaded revolvers probably more than they disliked the extra and unnecessary recoil. Some guys saw that it made a good deer round, like the fellow in your deer camp, and it's still popular among a few for that, but it remains a special interest round. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I had forgot about the 41 magnum, if my memory serves me right wasn't it originally targeted for police use, more oomph than a 357 without the recoil of a 44 magnum? I recall somebody in our deer camp using one for a season or two, I think he might have taken a doe with it.
