My reason for adding an inch to those horse pistols is that they are belt guns anyway and are never going to be carried concealed. Even in earlier times they were belt guns, eh?
I have had no experience with a revolver as a belt gun other than in the woods while hunting or camping, usually with a 4" .357 Magnum of some sort. The only revolver I ever "carried" for duty was a Smith M10 in a USN shoulder holster when I was working on an R4D (Navy version of DC3) and we were flying over water. (I still have that holster, as I "liberated" it and my pistol belt with USGI .45 holster.) Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I get the same MPG as you on this one, always preferring the 4" barrel also. I do like five inch barrels on large frame guns like the N-frame, Redhawk, and New Service. The Anaconda would have been nice with a 5" barrel but was never offered that way.
