That photo appeared (again) on the Home Page, under the heading of "Name that Gat", and I tried my darnedest to visually identify the gun. Robert had said it was probably a Colt .32, and after I checked, he was correct. The Internet Movie Firearms Data Base is a good tool to identify movie guns, so long as you know the name of the movie. There is a better photo of the same scene you showed, with a clearer image of the pistol.
