It's sad but there always will be some jerk waiting to spout off about his/her favorite cause when even the faintest connection is there. Such folks will never get it anyway so I don't worry too much about them.
Still, it has given me pause on occasion. You remember when we first moved to the woods in northern Michigan I talked here about an idea for a photo Christmas card? It would have depicted my wife and I in our turkey-hunting camo and armed to the teeth with our woods as a backdrop. The caption would have been "Merry Christmas from our compound to yourn". I never sent that - it seemed just a bit over the top. This all reminded me of my friend Pete whose two joys in life are his antique Rolls and his dobermans. His Christmas cards always featured either or both, usually in some zany context, like the dogs chewing up the upholstery in the Rolls (staged, of course!). My favorite was one which simply showed Pete holding a gun to the head of one of his dobies. The caption was "Have a merry Christmas or I shoot the dog!" Simple and to the point! I'm still happy to post stuff like that quad mini-gun photo. If it gets folks' panties in a knot, so much the better! Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Isn't it a sign of the times that it now seems like we can't even joke about things like this for concern about being thought crazy gun owners that ought to be committed thru red flag laws? Image below from Stu Wayne - Image Title: photos Image Info: Bob Rowe e-mailed this image to me with the title so stereotypically connected to us geezers: "Get off my lawn!" Looks like the ultimate in home (or lawn) defense guns to me! :-D |
