I really can't remember what he called the finish but it looks very different from my Commander which came from Colt with an electroless nickel finish. I've put many rounds through the Python and the finish is staying like new everywhere except right at the muzzle opening. It is beginning to wear right there.
I posted that photo 19 years ago so the finish has held up for about 34 years so far. |

Image below from Allan Tarvid - Image Title: photos Image Info: This old 6-inch Python was developing holster rust near the end of the barrel so I had it refinished about 15 years ago (a horrible thing to have to do to an old Python''s beautiful glassy look). A gunsmith friend was experimenting with a new finish (I can''t remember what it was called) and he removed the rust and did this combination satin finish with glass-smooth cylinder flutes and highlights. The grips and speed loaders are from Safariland. |
