Section 8: Handguns Subject: S&W Governor Msg# 1130962

Stupid as it seems, a large number of what I consider to be gullible consumers buy these for self-protection, thinking a .410g through an open-bored short barrel is actually a good anti-personnel cartridge, when it really makes an unpleasant-looking surface wound only, and wouldn't stop a six year old bent on harm. Then are those who like the idea of interchangibility, and these guns shoot both .410gauge and .45Colt. To me that is in no way a benefit, especially as the bullet from the Colt cartridge has a LONG jump to the forcing cone of the barrel, much less the rifling. If someone wants a .45 Colt handgun there are far better choices.
Needless to say I wouldn't own one of these on a bet. I believe it should be to Smith & Wesson's embarrassment that when Taurus began selling the Judge successfully, S&W began selling a shameless copy called the Governor. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Who buys these???? Why?????? Image below from TJ Parmele - Image Title: S&W Governor Image Info: S&W's answer to the Taurus Judge. Except it can fire 6 shots vice 5 and it's also chambered for .45 ACP with Hogue "Zombie" Grip that glows in the dark. |
