I run them in my steel frame 1911s, too, as long as they don't cause function problems. My .45ACP Combat Commander has never had a problem with them.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not that this means anything but after a couple years experimentation with buffers I quit using them. Of course I don't have any aluminum frames, so ths is apropos of nothing.
