When it comes to the Model 70 it would depend on when it was made, and not just pre- or post-'64.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I had 2 of them over time, both in .30-'06. Sold them to friends, including one who still has it and uses it when he goes to Alaska. I never had a problem in deciding between the Remington M700 and the Winchester Model 70. Harvey
