Yeah, some older semi-autos did need things like feed ramp polishing.  I wouldn't call that customizing, would you?

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Had the feed ramp of my Hi Power polished for reliable feed right after I bought it, other than that still the same as the day I took it out of the box.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
