For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: When I was a little kid, sometimes the adults would go out and shoot off a few rounds on the 4th, just to make noise. I don't remember the details and can't remember the "safety arrangements."  A couple times they went out to this social club my grandfather belonged to that was basically surrounded by forest and shot into a huge log pile--stacked up for burning in the clubhouse fireplace--that was probably the safest venue they used....
