Everyone, I used to envy Mike to an extent in that Canadians could (and probably still can) buy rifles of all types with no silly barrel length restriction--no SBRs*. Today in the US we have gotten around SBRs in a very silly manner that shooters most have accepted, to our embarrassment in my opinion, by shortening the barrels and calling them "pistols." By removing the proper buttstock and giving these "rifles" a "brace" consisting of either a flat buttstock or a cuff, they are allowed to be a short-barreled rifle of sorts. Gee I hate bureaucracy. *Of course the downside in Canada was that they could own all these cool SBRs but they could only run, what was it, five round magazines? And the real shame was that the ovt made them take the full length 20-30-40 round amgs and pin them to 5 (10?) thus somewhat ruining them. |
