I would try Numrich Gunparts for the clips. After you have a couple, a good way to get more is buy old German surplus 8x56r as it comes loaded in the clips. Mine is 8x56r. It is one of my least favorite rifles and is in my collection mainly as a conversation piece. The bolt requires a real good pull to open, requiring me to take the rifle out of firing position to load another round.
TheBerthier has that massive three round magazine but is otherwise okay. My VZ-24 has no crest on the receiver, just the year "1937". I assume it was taken over by the Germans but their are no Wehrmacht acceptance marks. Dave |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: That's still a GREAT collection! I do not have an M98 tho' I have a 98k. The Berthier is another I don't have--only Frog rifle I ever owned was the MAS 36, which is a lot easier to shoot now. When I owned one ammo was nearly impossible to come by. The Mannlicher has tempted me but I've been worried about finding the packet chargers, or clips. Are they a problem finding? Is yours an 5x50R or an 8x56R? Other than the G88, I have all the others. My son has the VZ-24, which I bought him for his birthday. It's in original, pre-war Czech trim. You should consider a Finnish Mosin-Nagant. |
