For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Harvey G on the P88: "Beautiful pistol..." Harvey and Harvey, You both seem to have found the Walthers you owned beautiful and well-made. While I don't question the quality, I don't see the beauty. Obviously this is in the eye of the beholder, but both the P88 and P5 series seem to have a number of extra external levers, bars and buttons that take something away from their beauty, as it were. (In my mind at least. In the handgun world, one that has beauty is sleek, without many protruding levers or buttons. It has function, because that is a must, but it has form in the steel. The Colt Government Model, the Colt Model M, the Colt Pocket Hammer, the Browning P35. The Luger Pistole '08, although lacking some sleekness has beauty in form. Perhaps I have not looked closely at all these later Walthers, because the P38 is a junkyard dog. Have you fellas got some photos in the galleries you can post in this thread, especially of the P88? (Mark doesn't want to look them up. |
