Sometimes it's not your words, it is a mental blind spot in the opposition, while they surely consider us to possess a similar but opposite mental blind spot. It's the nature of most human disagreement. That you and I are able to see above and beyond this human frailty simply shows off our brilliance in understanding the human psyche. It is what it is.
