At least one of the museums here has had a program of interviewing and videoing WWII veterans about their experiences. I've heard this is a pretty common practice elsewhere in the US, so maybe some of that history has been saved.
On of my gym buddies just died. He was 92 and a WWII vet, and he previously showed me his video that was done a few years ago. In addition to being a WWII vet, he also was a German Jew who got out of Germany right before it was too late. He was active, even doing Pilates, and his mind was still sharp up until just a few months ago when they discovered he had cancer. He was certainly my hero! Harvey |
