The UZI is what is often referred to as a 2nd generation subgun, while the MP5 is often referred to as a 3rd generation subgun. Size is the biggest factor for those who promulgate the "generation" theory, and with the Uzi they are referring to the original Uzi, of course. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think it was just a matter of agencies going to a newer weapon after having used the one to be replaced for a number of years.(Reagan was shot in 1981). The Uzis had been used by numerous agencies since the 1960s/early '70s, so I guess it was time to replace them by the '80s? Harvey |
