For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Somewhere I read that the Chinese Army used this technique with the Broomhandle Mauser machine pistol. Instead of bullets spraying into the air under recoil, Holding the pistol sideways, the bullets would (hopefully) spray along the line of the charging enemy.
