I had mulled over that a bit but decided that, if the sights were dead on for the distance, then it would make no difference - I was wrong!
You reminded me of the six o'clock hold, which I had forgotten about. Unless the gun is offset to the side so that the bull is still just tangent to the center of the front sight, with a six o'clock hold you do have more potential for error, I think. Good point! Even with the bull properly centered on the front sight, with a canted hold gravity no longer acts on the bullet along the same line as the sights or the recoil so a lot of practice and sight adjustment would have to be done to compensate for these differences, no? For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Bullseye shooting is a bit different than action shooting - you have practically all day to break the shot compared to action shooting and you typically use adjustable sights with a 6 o'clock hold. Even with a scope or red dot sight at 50 yards angling the pistol right or left could throw everything off...?????? |
