I'm not familiar enough with Springfield receivers to hazard a guess. I'd have to put an original next to a Sedgley-modified one to tell the difference. Shooting from the hip - it was a "sporterized" rifle, could that be the result of cuts made to lighten the receiver?

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: How did these come to have what appears to be am integrally grooved receiver in front? Or is that an attachment of some sort?
