Do you still have this rifle?  Has any of the engraving of the name of the arsenal been removed from the receiver ring, which would indicate the receiver has been cut to square it off?

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm not familiar enough with Springfield receivers to hazard a guess. I'd have to put an original next to a Sedgley-modified one to tell the difference. Shooting from the hip - it was a "sporterized" rifle, could that be the result of cuts made to lighten the receiver?
