The last time I looked on Gunbroker there were 280 Pythons listed priced from $1,000 to $14,000 and they ranged from brand new in the box with all paperwork to pretty well used. With very few exceptions, the guns priced between $1,000 and about $2,500 were the only ones that didn't show zero bids. The other ones showing bids were extremely rare models with lots of collector interest, like the 8-inch and 3-inch barreled guns. So, it looks like the word is out that Pythons can sell for stupidly high prices so everyone is trying to get theirs into the act, with a limited response. Only those with starting prices of $1,000 to $1,500 are moving briskly.
That still looks great to those of us who acquired Pythons back when they were going for a couple of hundred bucks. Here's my $150 Python... Image below from Allan Tarvid - Image Title: Colt Python |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have the exact gun with a factory letter, made and shipped in 1972. It has the slickest action I have ever encountered, trigger breaks like a glass straw! It's in like new condition, fired very little, wondering what it might be worth?
