I honestly know very little about the workings of the Model 8, I've only seen my Uncle-in-Law show me how the barrel moved upon firing, which blew my mind. So I have no mileage on this one at all, and was simply asking more educated minds than my own.  As to the part about Browning's other designs, gosh, I'd have to give that a good bit of thought. I suppose one could say Browning's designs were straightforward, but I am not a gun designer nor an engineer, so they all look complicated to me, and it is only by learning how they work that I can fathom them. So again, just asking opinions!

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You think Browning's designs were generally simple? No, not necessarily simple, but straightforward IMO. The Model 8 was a spring maker's bit of heaven, and the long recoil system and bolt group weren't simple at all. Just my opinion, and YMMV. Harvey |
