For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I reloaded a hundred rounds for it and shot them through it with no trouble. The gunsmith was familiar with them and I asked him to make sure I had everything clean and lubed correctly before I shot it. As for parts, I've probably woke up screaming from nightmares that were more fun than finding parts for one of those Model 8s... The gunsmith was a character! He worked in the back of my favorite Helena, MT, gun shop with a partner. He had a reputation all over Montana as a builder of fine rifles that worked. He would custom-fit barrels and actions and he built beautiful stocks out of chunks of beautiful wood. The two gunsmiths were experts at fixing old Colt SAA revolvers and Winchester lever guns. Both gunsmiths are now retired, but the guy who replaced them is really good, too. |
