I had to laugh at that! I’d love to meet your ‘smith. That’s the best description of those I’ve ever heard. I’ll take that one step farther. Hay balers break down a lot, even the newer ones. I’d hate to have to pay a competent smith to find parts and fix a Model 8 and then worry if you’re going to have to do it again in another 50 rounds. It would be a nice gun to own for a while but not something to keep, long term. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I no longer have that rifle, I scratched the itch and let it go on to the next guy. It was fun to shoot, but its accuracy wasn't impressive. And, a gunsmith warned me that when you pulled the trigger it was a lot like holding a hay baler against your shoulder what with all the mechanical parts that had to function before the gun would shoot again. He was right, and that was part of the gun's charm! |
