I'm trying to remember the ammunition controversy. When the pistol was first introduced into the US, FN attempted to restrict the anti-armor ammunition to military and law enforcement. But, IIRC, some of that ammunition found its way into commercial distribution, as well as the "sporting" version of 5.7mm, which, TTBOMK, was JHP.
Frankly, I never had much interest in the pistol, as I thought it was bulky, expensive and unnecessary for civilian use. Anyway, what pistol do you like, if any? I'm not sure what you are asking here --FN-5.7, or others? Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I honestly don't recall. Jerry Webb was assigned to the Columbus Intelligence Bureau and sent out a be aware report on this pistol at the time because they were concerned about it getting in the wrong hands with the right ammo so that may be the case. OTOH I'd read unverified reports that this ammo has never gotten outside military channels.  I doubt that is likely, eh?
