Well,
If you have a true single action Nagant, the cylinder won't turn at all if you just pull on the trigger. You have to physically cock the hammer. For the Double Action Nagant, when that trigger is pulled, the cylinder rotates, the hammer gets pulled back and the cylinder gets pushed forward as well. LOTS of stuff going on with that weird little Revolver. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yeah, the guy I spoke with about these said there's a part in the Double action hammers that is taken out so all they do is spin when the trigger is pulled double action. How bizarre! I can imagine the poor Russian private in the panic of battle, pulling and pulling the trigger unaware that his revolver wasn't firing! Changing to single-action was necessary for Cowboy Action shooting, eh? Do as-issued single-action ones also spin the cylinder when attempting to fire double-action? Is there a different feel that would telegraph to the shooter that he's doing it wrong? Curious Stu |
