I was never in the SAC command post but I was told if you walked up to a guard without your ID badge showing you got shot.....no discussion, no halt or I'll shoot......nothing....just bang! Was that the rule in NORAD as well?
I kind of remember they had a blast door that was several FEET thick, story was you could hit the mountain with a nuke and maybe, just maybe cause somebody's coffee to spill? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The Security Police in the underground SAC HQ at Offut were part of one of the two Elite Guard units in the entire USAF. The other Elite Guard was at NORAD HQ inside Cheyenne Mountain. I was a member of that Elite Guard. |
