Now I've added a Wilson Shok Buff insert to protect the aluminum frame and I want to make sure it works okay, so far it limits rearward slide travel too much for trouble-free functioning: the slide doesn't always lock back on an empty magazine and it won't always load the first round out of a full magazine.
I didn't think you were supposed to use Shok Buffs in Commanders. (Not enough "room".) I'm experimenting with loads using 147 grain bullets and while the GM sized gun likes them they seem a bit hard on the lightweight Commander so I'm going to move the other direction and try some 115 grain loads for it. For range work I felt the 147gr bullets were excellent (and accurate), but I have little experience with them in a Lightweight pistol, especially for SD work. I use 124gr ammunition in my 9mm pistols, and I'm pretty happy with those. YMMV. So far, I have said 'no' to two people who seriously wanted to buy it. And here I was going to offer you a trade for it. Sigh. Keep on keeping on, Allan! Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not yet, but almost! Installing a Wolff variable power recoil spring took care of the last of its sometimes-errant behavior. I'm used to the straight trigger and the gun is dead-nuts accurate with the iron sights or the laser grips. I'm experimenting with loads using 147 grain bullets and while the GM sized gun likes them they seem a bit hard on the lightweight Commander so I'm going to move the other direction and try some 115 grain loads for it. I already know it likes 124 grain loads and if I have to take the Shok Buff out I would rather shoot 115 grain loads in it. So far, I have said 'no' to two people who seriously wanted to buy it...
