I read recently that 9mm 1911s now outsell .45ACP 1911s. Blows my mind. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not yet, but almost! Installing a Wolff variable power recoil spring took care of the last of its sometimes-errant behavior. Now I've added a Wilson Shok Buff insert to protect the aluminum frame and I want to make sure it works okay, so far it limits rearward slide travel too much for trouble-free functioning: the slide doesn't always lock back on an empty magazine and it won't always load the first round out of a full magazine. I'm used to the straight trigger and the gun is dead-nuts accurate with the iron sights or the laser grips. I'm experimenting with loads using 147 grain bullets and while the GM sized gun likes them they seem a bit hard on the lightweight Commander so I'm going to move the other direction and try some 115 grain loads for it. I already know it likes 124 grain loads and if I have to take the Shok Buff out I would rather shoot 115 grain loads in it. So far, I have said 'no' to two people who seriously wanted to buy it...
