Great story! And the mention of the Savage .250/3000 reminded me that it was the first American hunting cartridge to hit 3,000fps. And that was back in the early 1900s. In addition to it being an outstanding rifle, it spawned a whole bunch of interesting ammunition.

In addition to it being an outstanding rifle, it spawned a whole bunch of interesting ammunition. I figured that was one tough rifle to kill antelope and deer after the way he treated it. To borrow a thought from fellow Forum Member Kim, it's just a tool! (Although as I said in another post, most of the M99s I see for sale are in excellent condition, regardless their age.) Harvey |
