It's a Sears Model 54, which makes it a clone of the Winchester 94 classic in .30-30 as Winchester made this gun under contract for Sears Roebuck.
It was a steal at $350 I use it in my NRA "Firearm Safety Inside the Home" classes for demonstrating lever guns. It had a bit of surface rust that cleaned off pretty well. There's a bit of pitting, etc. I'm going to probably do some pictures with the "Lever Family" (such as it is... only 3 guns). It's definitely seen better days. Shoot, I haven't even fired the rifle yet. I have a Marlin "Remlin" era 1895 Guide Gun in .45-70, a pre "Remlin" Cowboy Classic 1894 in .357 Magnum and then this Sears Model 54. |
