So, I'm not sure where epidemy came from. Some weird spell check/auto correct issue. Writing on a new tablet.
I was trying to say just what I said further down in my reply, more or most desirable... |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Probably not. But really, I'd personally just wait and get an EG model in 308. From what I understand, the EG was the epidemy of the series, and also available in 300 Savage if wanted. If I am remembering correctly. It incorporated all of the most desirable feature of the rifle, including the (at the time) up to date or at least, more available/popular chamberings. That statement, made from my very limited research. Not to mention, they incorporated more of a shotgun style butt stock, rather than the deep crescent plate that mine has. That crescent style is not especially pleasant to shoot with full power, high caliber, cartridges. Regardless, the EG is very desirable nonetheless. Several years ago, I read that Savage could/would convert any caliber 99 to which ever new caliber was desired. My brother in law had a 99 in 22 Savage or, 22 High Power. Also a take down model. He wanted to sell it and I wanted to buy it. So remembering that Savage could rechamber it to anything I wanted, I called them. Well as it turns out, no, no they cannot convert any 99. At least not the 22 Savage to 308, as I wanted. Long story short, that would have been a mistake as the 22 High Power is a bit collectable nowadays. And no, I didn't buy it. It was bartered away for a painted room some years later. It seems that the switch to 308 from 300 would be very easily performed. But now I am on the lookout for an EG in 308... |
