SARCO is alive and well and bigger than ever. For us old milsurp guys who remember Springfield Sporters, they were sold to SARCO many years ago, and other than Numrich Gun Parts Corporation, Sarco is perhaps the biggest outfit in military stuff going these days. They still offer parts kits made in The Philippines. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: IIRC there was a shop called SARCO that was always offering Rock Island 1911 frames and such. It was never on a scale like this though, and I briefly remember during the "Build your own pistol' phase where Gen 3 Glocks were being copied that there were "80% Kits" being offered for the 1911, but both efforts seem to have faded into obscurity. I think for the average gun guy, this will probably be too much. However, for those that want to "Give it a whirl" I think it's a good idea. Why not? If nothing else, it sparks interest in the finished product and it might inspire a new generation of people to look into the classic 1911 Not bad, not bad at all. |
