I guess we need to find the best ways to discourage these actions, including getting the idiotic news media to stop making celebrities out of these murderers. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Take them seriously, sure. Unfortunately, psychology is an imperfect science. We need better tools to determine who has the true capacity to act out and to effectively intervene. Also, be careful what we wish for. I believe (backed by my own extended family with multiple psychologists and a couple of psychiatrists) that those who will develop those tools may have an innate orientation against our guns. This could creep into the very tools we're hoping for. Don't forget: half of this country think you and I are nuts just because of our politics! Stu |
