Yes, it’s an Axis lock. The “sliders” allow for one hand opening and closing. It’s a very strong system and is my personal favorite for pocket knives. Very simple, quick and intuitive to use. I prefer a blade length of 3 ½" but that’s just me. Benchmade stuff is excellent quality but you pay for it. The “Axis” was proprietary to BM but now there are some knock-offs available. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I like it! Here in Clark County, legal pocket knife length is three inches. This little guy looks to do a fine job within that parameter. My only question is about that slider on the one scale; is it the Axis lock or is this an automatic opener? I'm hoping the latter, which would be legal here. ETA: A second thought. Now that my carry permit has expired and it doesn't look like I'll be getting another, it doesn't seem so necessary to stay pure as the driven snow in other areas. A big honkin' knife like I carried in Michigan may be a better tool and deterrent if needed... Stu |
