“Gun Violence” is just a political buzz word. Guns don’t commit violence, people do. The Vegas shooting was something of an outlier. The guy was pretty well off financially, had no history of criminal or mental problems. He kept his thoughts to himself and didn’t leave a manifesto. So there a lot of room for speculation and unanswered questions. Bump stocks and full auto suck for accuracy at any distance. The media made a big deal about him having them and yes, he did use them but I suspect a large number of his hits came from a bolt action. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Interesting article on the Senate's current approach to blaming law abiding citizen's and the firearms industry for crime, to whit, this hearing on "How Bump Stocks and Other Conversion Devices are Amplifying the Gun Violence Epidemic." Judiciary Chairman Durbin’s Sudden Change of Heart on Display During Gun Control Hearing I'm not sure Sen. Durbin actually had a change of heart, but he realizes he is out as leader of his committee in a month, so his comment on working with the incoming leader was politic. |
