That Vegas "October Massacre" was indeed done with bump stocks on multiple rifles! I think that alone was the impetus for all the anti-bump stock legislation.
I have no personal interest in bump stocks, but I wish that our politicians could look more objectively at them and fit any proposed legislation within the framework of current law and the Second Amendment. Technically, a bump stock does not create an "automatic weapon". Instead it enables the shooter to pull the trigger multiple times more quickly than usual. Making them totally illegal goes beyond even the current law about complete, functional machine guns, which can be owned with a federal background check and a $200 tax stamp. Stu |
