That was some history, Kim. That was an interesting take on the rifle.
I continued to hunt with it and killed a couple deer with it. While I have had no hands-on experience with the.32-20, I'd always heard it was a marginal round for deer hunting. Good for you in proving those thoughts weren't totally correct! Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This was when I was a kid in the ‘70's. The rifle belonged to the father of my best friend. A man that was like a second father to me. 32-20 wasn’t easy to find, even then so it wasn’t a gun we shot a lot. One night, he and I were sitting around by ourselves. He was drunk, he was always drunk and was going on about how his kids didn’t respect him and how I was more loyal than they were. Long story short, he gave me the rifle. I tried to refuse but he wouldn’t listen. I had it about a month and he pulled me aside and politely asked if he could get it back. Of course I gave it back. I continued to hunt with it and killed a couple deer with it. The 32-20 isn’t a great deer caliber and that gun was not a tack driver but inside 60 yards or so, it worked if you put the bullet in the right place. |
