For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: From what I’m understanding, Trump can’t legally abolish fed agencies. That said there is a lot of fat that can and should be trimmed. Unfortunately, whenever politicians try to downsize agencies, they always cut some positions from the boots on the ground line staff (the ones that do the actual work) and training and equip. Then pat themselves on the back. All they really accomplish is making the job harder for the remaining staff while saving pennies. Cutting upper and mid level managers that make the most money and contribute the least to the mission is a better way to do it. However, in this case states already have Alcohol Enforcement officers. That and tobacco could mostly be turned over to the states. Firearms could be handled by the FBI. |
