If you've got something that approximates the Model 66 and meets your requirements, I'd definitely be keeping that! Nothing wrong with something that doesn't need fixing. As for the differences, I don't really know what they would be apart from made in Brazil and made in Springfield MA or TN. The new Smith and Wesson revolvers outside of the J Frames seem to start at $1000 or so. Priced historically and adjusted for inflation, they are cheaper than their original models would be. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have the Taurus copy in a 2 1/2 barrel, round butt and carry it as a back-up when bear and deer hunting. I've had it going on 25 years and I'm extremely happy with it. Very accurate and heavy enough to help manage the recoil. I've looked at the S&W 66 version and I'll be damned if I can see a difference.....other than price? |
