The .357 is available in the slightly smaller L-frame rather than that big N-frame, for what it's worth. As much as I like the .45 as a shooting caliber, I much prefer it in a semi-auto for defense. Better carry and higher capacity make it a much more palatable choice in a flat carry gun!
A 5" M625 would be my own choice for a .45 ACP revolver. It would be a fun gun, not a defensive one. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Another thing about that picture... its .45 ACP caliber. If I had any reason to prefer a revolver that size over a semi-auto I'd probably go for a .357 mag or .41 mag instead of .45 ACP... I kind of understand the semi-auto caliber in a .38 Special-sized revolver using 9mm ammo because there are some respectable 9mm loads that might trump the available revolver loads in a gun that size. But that .45 ACP revolver is almost as big as a .44 magnum and there are simply more effective calibers for it than .45 ACP. Of course my preference would be to go with a 1911 or other .45 ACP pistol and just skip the revolver part... |
