In the case of a 9mm revolver on a .38 frame, it makes the most sense if and when the manufacturer shortens the frame to shorten the bullet jump from case to forcing cone. This is never done, with the sole exception of a run of Taurus 905i models made on the short frame also used for the .17 rimfires. Otherwise, you do get the advantage of moon clips, but that's all. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Another thing about that picture... its .45 ACP caliber. If I had any reason to prefer a revolver that size over a semi-auto I'd probably go for a .357 mag or .41 mag instead of .45 ACP... I kind of understand the semi-auto caliber in a .38 Special-sized revolver using 9mm ammo because there are some respectable 9mm loads that might trump the available revolver loads in a gun that size. But that .45 ACP revolver is almost as big as a .44 magnum and there are simply more effective calibers for it than .45 ACP. Of course my preference would be to go with a 1911 or other .45 ACP pistol and just skip the revolver part... |
